Linguatronic on W220

Is it possible to add linguatronic to a MY00 W220? I do have factory voice dialing. Thanks.

You would need to update both your COMAND and your VCS module, and ensure that your VCS switch activates the new VCS module in the same electrical fashion. Other than that it should work fine.

Thanks for the quick reply! I looked around the forums to see if there had been any info posted on this but couldn't find any. So what would it take to update Comand and VCS? I looked on your site and didn't see anything there either.

Dealer said that this and keyless go could not be added, but then they said that xenons could not be updated to bi-xenons and I proved them wrong with this forum.

Keyless Go can probably not be added without having a whole other S-class to donate it.

What I meant by "update" the COMAND and VCS... means... replace with a newer unit. Kind of expensive!

The reason is that the VCS needs to understand the new commands (like for CD, radio, etc.). That's easy to understand. The COMAND is the part that translates the comands from the VCS into the actual actions; the older COMAND didn't understand this so requires replacement. I am pretty sure a software update doesn't fix that.

Okay, thanks for your help. Since I'll be selling the car sometime soon, doesn't sound like it would be worthwhile.

The topic is still alive and mainly unresolved. I have a faulty voice control on my 2004 W220 with MOST. The car knows it has Voice Control but is not "loading it". See picture.

I figure that the MOST ring would not work if VC is faulty. Maybe it has an optical bypass inside?

Bringing this thread back from the dead yet again but, I recently purchased an '05 W220 and I'm in the process of adding VCS. I have found that there are a bunch of modules out there that can be used but mainly it looks like one option is 211 820 62 85 which on eBay can be found as low as $20 and then there is 220 820 62 85 which runs over $100. The module beginning with 220 is the one made by TEMIC and the 211 is the one made by AKG. I know that TEMIC started making them after AKG but there are '04 modules from AKG that can be had for cheap. My question is, is the 220 module more capable than the 211 module? Meaning does it allow more commands or does it do more than the 211 module? Or are they the same just made by different companies? Seems to me that the TEMIC one is more expensive just because it has the 220 in the part number... But I may be wrong.... Thanks!
