Thumbs up Can US 6CD Command Display Mp3 titles

I read the manual for my existing Command in my '05 E55 and burned a CD with ".mp3" extensions and it played and displayed the actual title and folders as I had entered it when burned.

The manual ststed that this is only possible with the single loaded changer, which I used for the above. I have not tried the same CD in the 6 CD tray yet, but expect the manual is right

Does the above mean that the head unit can be software modified to allow the 6 CD changer to perform as the single unit?

Can a splitter or some similar mod be performed to the single CD unit to allow it to display IPOD info? My Aux plays the Ipod fine, but it is not a data port, as we know.

Thank you very much

Fury

Of course it can. But you need the skill to reprogram the head unit, and you also need the skill to create a digital fibre optic MOST-compliant interface for your iPod. And to do all this with virtually no technical documentation.

Hi -S-.

Thanks for the reply. Regarding no technical info-no kidding. The manual was WRONG with regard to only the single CD changer bein able to display mp3 info, as I put my burned CD into the 6CD changer and it indeed displayed the correct name of the file on the head unit... so what would it take to get the Ipod to do the same thing, more specifically, please? Better, has anyone done it? Any enhanced display for the mp3's?

Thank you very much

Fury

Since you have the car, I would prefer to hear from YOU whether this is the case or not.

Question US COMAND playing MP3 CDs in single dash player

I didn't know the above is possible. Is it a new feature in the 2005 E-class COMAND? I thought the US 2004 COMAND does not allow you to play MP3s, even when using the single dash player?!

Thanks for any feedback!
