I have a fellow MB world user that is also installing the command unit. He has the same year clk as you.
His user name on MBworld is Daveskee could you help him out on finding the proper wires to tap in to as far the the CAN BUS goes.
He's desperate for some help. I would help but I do not have CAN BUS I bought a CAN BUS simulator

C2 shell/plug

pin 8-Canbus low-BLACK
pin 9-Canbus high-WHITE/BLACK
pin 10-wake up D2B-BLUE/BLACK
pin 6- VSS-better to use GREEN/VIOLET

C1 plug

brown wire - pin 5 of C1 plug
red/black wire - pin 6 C1 plug

I guess you are slightly confused with colors... or maybe I am wrong.. but.. according to your picture...
C2 pin8 is for CAN Lo... from C pin1 (Black/White) <--
C2 pin9 is for CAN Hi... from C pin2 (Black) <--
C2 pin10 is for D2B... from C pin4 (Blue/Black)
C1 pin5 is for - CD power... from C pin6 (Brown/Red) <--
C1 pin6 is for +CD power... from C pin5 (Brown) <--
Could you confirm these please??

...the picture it may appear that the color for the CD is reversed....but the written pin config is correct.
