programming SplitView COMAND remote control?
I recently bought an 2015 S550 (W222) with the SplitView option, which should include a remote control handset (A2228206189) and headphones (A2228203889) for the passenger. Of course, these accessories were not included with my car, but I've found them available second-hand on eBay. However, I'm also told that these accessories need to be "programmed" to pair with and be recognized by the car, and that only a dealer can do it?
My M-B dealer tells me that they have never done this before, and are not certain than remotes/headphones that were paired to another car can ever be "re-programmed" to work with a different car. It sounds to me like they are confusing this with the key fobs, which are "married for life." But it would be nice to be sure, before I drop $250 on eBay. :-)
So can anyone confirm that they have programmed a second-hand replacement remote control/headphone (either SplitView front seat or Rear Entertainment Package rear seat) to work with a different car? I'm guessing this is just inputting the handset/headphone serial numbers into the car's infotainment system, but I'm new to the M-B serialized accessories world...
