Would it be safe to splice in new wires for H7 bulb connector into existing harness?
I broke the plastic connector for the H7 bulb connector (see attached picture) while using a screw driver to get the bulb out of the socket. I ordered a new wire with connector (see attached picture) from Mercedes parts. Would it be safe/possible to splice the new connector and wire into the existing harness by wrapping the wire and then covering it up with a heat shrink tube?
Wrapping the wires together and covering with shrink tube won't physically secure the connection and prevent corrosion, and the connection will eventually fail. You should be able to find splice connectors at a local auto store that will provide a reliable and easy to install connections. These are small barrel shape devices about an inch long and 1/4" diameter. Wires insert at each end and are clamped into place. Alternately, there are crimp type splices, but I prefer the barrel type.
