Static Hiss while listening to aux?

Static Hiss while listening to aux?
For those of you that use the aux connection in the glove box, do you get a static hiss, very slight, in the background, more evident at low volumes or quiter parts in the songs, but it's there. do you guys get that hiss? is it just my mp3 player or is that normal when using an aux setup such as that one? i dont have an ipod but i am about to get one, will i get the same hiss? also, would that hiss still exist if i got the itrip? (the thing that sends your music to an fm station on your radio). How is the soudn of the itrip attachment to the ipod compared to the aux? Thanks.

whats a line conditioner? where could i get one from? i just want to clarify though, it's not engine noise because it is a low constant noise almost like one you get when you are listening to a cassete. thanks alot for the advise.

Go to radio shack, get a inline noise filter. Very common problem - luckily easy to solve. Unfortunately you'll end up w/ about 6 feet of extra cable b/c of the adapters and way Radio Shack sells the pieces you need.

mb 230s can you tell me what an inline noise filter and all the pieces I will need? I went to radio shack and they looked at me as if they had never heard of an inline noise filter. can you tell me all the parts or the part numbers so that I can have them look all the parts up? ALso what is involved in hooking it up? Do I have to splice/cut wires?

Well I found out what was causing the hissing sound with my ipod. I noticed that at first when the car was started the hissing was not there, even though I had the ipod already plugged in. This led me to think that maybe the ipod was trying to do 2 things at once and that maybe that was the background static i was getting. I do have the new ipod video, so I thought let me play around with it and see. Well when I touched the iopd and the backlight came on, guess what NO background STATIC 
SO I was like ahh ok, for some reason with my ipod, having the background light off creates some kind of feedback that causes background static when the ipod is playing. Well I set my ipod to have the backlight stay on continuously, and the noise is all gone, problem solved!
