Installing amplifier & subwoofer in Mercedes EQC
Hi everyone,
I’ve owned my 2020 Mercedes eqc for around a year now, I have enjoyed ownership but having had some very high end Audio systems in the past I’d like to upgrade the stock system, imo the eqc audio although isn’t bad it’s just not the level I’d like. I have the standard system not the Burmeister.
I think the system is far too front loaded, for me it needs some weight from the rear for balance. Firstly I plan to install an amp and small subwoofer beneath the rear floor storage, then I’ll look at upgrading the door speakers, perhaps some extra tweeters but that’s down the line. I’ll take it stage at a time.
So with the lack of any rca outputs from the dash I will have to use high level signal inputs to the amp from the speaker wires.
I’ve run speaker wires from the rear door speakers but realise they have a high pass filter on the signal, no good for me to use for the subwoofer. I’ll probably end up using them wires for a rear speaker door upgrade, I’ve seen some 10cm focal speakers plus I have a small jl audio amp but my main focus is a subwoofer.
My problem is finding a signal with either bass or preferably full range. I know the eqc subwoofer is in the dash, does anyone know if this can be easily accessed so I can run a dedicated subwoofer amp or if there’s a full range signal I can get from somewhere? As the rear door speakers are high passed I assume this is done from the dash or a signal processor somewhere close to the front. I guess I was hoping the in line crossover was near the speakers so I was working with a full range signal. Things are never straightforward!
If anyone can help shed some light it would really be appreciated, I know it’s not for everyone and people will think I’m mad for messing with the system but it’s an upgrade I feel is worth it to me.
Any help of advice is greatly appreciated, thanks
