Knobs on command system worn. Replaceable??
hey guys,
the two rotary buttons (knobs) that are on a command unit from a 2000 CLK430 have worn down. Actually the rubber coating on them is worn. Are they replaceable?
I dont mind if i have to disassemble the unit, but where can i buy new knobs?

I checked w/ mercedes and they said they weren't. They easily pop out when you pull them. Maybe some repair facility that deals in becker and mercedes stereo stuff can get them.

it is not a seperate part number. Check with steve and I am sure he can sell them to you but you can't pull the knob off. You will have to take the comand apart as it's the whole switch assy that has to be replaced.

good suggestions so far, but all the service centers i called wont sell me the knob, they want to refurbish the entire unit for $$$.
Steve said he does not have any either. Says there is a shortage because they repair many units with the same problem.
I know i am not the only one with this problem, and i know there is some place to get these knobs but where. The service centers are buying them from somewhere....
