Getting the wire under the carpet is a tight fit, but with patience and a coat hanger or snake you will accomplish it.
You can also lift the carpet up a bit if you remove the door sills, rear seat, etc.

Hi awiner:
I read all the thread and learn a lot, I am interesting in this ice/link for my car and follow the link on the site. This is the BEST thread I ever read on this forum you should post a link in all the sub-forums in order for all the fellow members to know about it.

A playlist I've used one day (has 10 songs in it) only shows 1 song in the play list the following day. In the display on the iPod it shows 1 of 1. I turn off the
head unit and disconnect and iPod shows all 10 songs in the playlist. I've had this sort of thing happen before but thought it was something I did incorrectly. Sounds like a bug......

Also, this version fixes a sync problem that I had experienced a couple of times.
The update went smooth and as per instructions. No need to circumvent things to get it updated this time as was the case for version 2.05 !

I was able to do an update to firmware 2.06. The first effort failed; I was listening to music on the iPod during the first effort, and the track numbers did not advance although the iPod screen indicated it was running the update. I did not listen to music during the second effort, and everything went smoothly, exactly as advertised. The 2.06 update is a much better product (at least for Mercedes, and probably Kenwood) than 2.05.

2.06 Update
Are you suppose to update 2.05 then 2.06 or does 2.06 have all the previous updates in it. I currently have 2.03 and I have periodic problems.
Thanks

Every update includes the previous updates in one. Therefore v2.06 can be updated fron ANY prior version and you will receive all the benefits.

icelink plus not recognized as cd changer on my S500 2000
Keep getting no cd changer on my command, icelink [version 2.06] powers up in dension mode and display shows last song, checked all connections, reboot icelink few times, support @ dension thinks that if car is prewired for a cd changer then definately no need for verson coding, running out of ideas - can anyone here help
thanks

the radio code in order for it to work. Don't ask me why. It might have to
rescan the fiber loop.

2000 SLK 230
"Empty Magazine" problem when trying to use Icelink Plus
Hi folks,
I have a 2000 SLK 230, and got the icelink plus professionally installed over the weekend. However, 3 times out of 4 I get an "empty magazine" message when trying to use my iPod. It seems that stopping then restarting the engine sometimes clears the problem and gets the head unit to see my iPod, but that's not a sustainable (or reliable) solution.
Anyone have any pointers?
Thanks!

This is absolutely great. Is the model of ICElink can be used for 2005 SL, if so, anything special which I should know.
What is the Model number and as where I can order it.
Answer greatly appreciated.

Another possibility is that the Ice>Link is not synchronizing properly with your head unit. Once that is done, there isn't much that is "sensitive" about the sequence of iPod & ignition. It may take several tries to synchronize - check the Ice>Link installation instructions again.
"Magazine empty" means the car senses that it has a CD changer, but isn't recognizing the iPod. It may mean a problem in the physical connection - either between the iPod and the cable, or wherever the cable is connected.
My car has COMAND 2.5 and my Ice>Link has a D2B fiber optic interface; I'm not familiar with connections to other head units. However, since your problem is intermittent, I would check to see that all connections have been made firmly.
Also, I found the following at http://www.ipodlounge.com/index.php/...k-11-ipod/P50/
"In addition, several times during our test procedures, the ICELink became unavailable as a source on the head unit. Again, the only remedy was to disconnect and then reconnect the ICELink from the head unit. We found that this occurred most frequently when the user tries to access the iPod’s controls when the ICELink is in the process of powering the iPod up or down; this is an issue if you brush your finger across the scroll pad or remove the iPod from the cradle while exiting your vehicle. The problem also occurred when the iPod had turned completely off, such as if it had not been used in several days, and was left in the cradle while starting the car."
There is a possibility also that your Ice>Link needs a firmware update; the Ice>Link instructions tell you how to read it out on your radio or on the iPod; it should also be annotated on a sticker on the circuit board. Firmware versions prior to 2.05 for Mercedes/Kenwood had many problems.
Incidentally, I was not able to access the firmware updates through Dension's website (which is now a combined global site); information about the updates was available, but not the updates themselves. What's worse, if you go to http://install.dension.com/updateil2 (a site from which firmware could formerly be downloaded), you get this:
"Important notice !
Dear Customers, current ice>Link Plus models implement the full desired feature set already, therefore no generic firmware updates released in the future.
However we are comitted to continue our product support and to make bug fixes available if necessary.
Feel free to contact Technical Support if you have any issue."
Fortunately, a gentleman by the name of Hal MacLean has made them available on his website at http://birdseye.ultralab.net/hal/?q=node/view/39 - but be sure to read the cautions and information on the Dension website concerning which firmware to use!!! v.2.07 seems to be the latest applicable to Mercedes. I don't know how long Mr. MacLean will be able to make them available.
Other than that, you should call Dension tech support. I have found them very responsive.

I tried to buy an ice>Link Plus for my '04 G55 through Denison in Europe only to be told that the current product is no longer available and will be replaced in September by a better model with additional features. I've put myself on their waiting list and have asked for further details. They said the version which was sold in the US was made over components from several manufacturers and had issues which have been addressed in the new design.

I'm deciding on whether to go with the MB kit or wait for yours, but I'd prefer not to give up my CD changer. Any chance you can interface through the Satellite interface on the Command, so we can see / control everything through the steering wheel AND the Command, and not give up our CD changer? Sorry, I know, I'm greedy, but that would be great if your system could accomodate.
Please let us know if this is possible, and when the MOST system will be released. The European Ipod kits from MB are already shipping.

03 C32
Hi All... (new to forum)
I have the Dension adapter on a 03 C32. There are no signal loss issues when I use the iPod but when I turn back to the radio... the sound cuts in and out. It could be something to do with the optic fiber.
Can someone kindly help me out? Thank you.

Check your fiber optic cables (orange) to see that none are overly curved or bent. Overly bending fiber optic cables can cause static, weak signal, and dropout.

Pro install or self install on ML320
I've just received my iceLink Plus from Dension and tore into the box with unbridled excitement. However, once getting everything laid out, I'm wondering if this is something I am capable of doing myself, or should I hire a local car audio shop to do the install. I've got a 2002 ML320. My concern is running those wires from the back to the front. Is there a place on the web that can tell me how to do this? The instructions that came with the iceLink seem somewhat generic.
I hope this thread isn't dead, it's been a great read so far...
