V60 phone options?
- Just got an '04 CLK 320 with the built-in V60 phone.
- I currently have GSM cell service with AT&T (Cingular) and wanted to active the V60 with my present cell account (deactivative my current Siemens phone)
- HOWEVER, AT&T/Cingular has informed me they no longer start new service for CDMA phones.
- They said I'd have to go to another carrier (Sprint, Verizon, etc.)
Ok, I don't want more than one cellular account so it's gonna cost me $175 to terminate my service with AT&T and go elsewhere (I'm stuck in a 2 year agreement).
So what are my options? Do I:
a) Cancel my GSM phone with AT&T and activate the V60 with another carrier? OR
b) Is there readily available, easy way to utilize a different phone (a model AT&T/Cingular supports) in my CLK?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What type of a V60 phone do you have?

If enough people complain they will address the issue. At the moment they are being very arrogant about the situation. However, customer satisfaction is a top priority and if they see enough letters they will do something about it.

Would you pay a lot of money for a new phone system for your older car? Because if Mercedes did develop such a solution, it would be very expensive. (We already have a solution and it's cheaper in most cases.)

I answered in the CLK section but you can take it up here or e-mail.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
For 2004 most based vehicles, all we really need is a cradle and a handset - the PSE is already built into the car. I can't understand why Mercedes has chosen not to offer GSM handset for any car prior to 2005. Also, not offering upgraded handsets makes it far less likely that people will purchase the integrated phone option for previously owned vehicles. They really need to look at this from more of a reputation vs. profit standpoint. I think this will have a much greater effect than they realize. I know I have gone from being an enthusiast to a very bitter customer.
