How can I improve AM radio reception?

My AM stations are sooooo full of static it's not funny. I love local sports talk radio, but the static is killing me. The antennae is etched in the back window. Any way to improve reception? Using the factory bose system with the Audio 6 CD head unit. Both original and this upgrade perform the same on AM.

Your car seems to have tint on the windows. If the tint is metallic, it can decrease reception if your AM antenna is in the rear windshield glass.

Alternatively, it could be a bad compensator (a low-powered amplifier) in the AM antenna. I had just such a problem in my 2000 S500 - though I am not familiar with your car.

none
Its your tint, on my W210 I had no AM at all with metallic tint. You could put a non metallic film on just the back glass. The downside to this is it will not last as long plus it will turn purple.
