Opinion on C300 Sport Lease Offer

MSRP 34800 (Automatic, Premium 1 package)
Price Quoted 34500
Term - 39 months
Mileage - 15,000 per year
MF .00315
Residual .61
ACQ fee - 1095.00
Cash - 1000
Taxes - .0675 (due monthly - - included in payment)
Doc fee - 249.00
Total Inital Payment - 1000.00 (includes first payment)

Payment is $599 per month (includes tax)

The only other 2 factors is the trade in of my wifes 2004 CRV owed $14300 and dealer said they would wash out $400 in neg equity in the deal otherwise it's a non factor but did hurt my negotiation on the vehicle price and the fact that they had to ship the car from Michigan to Ohio to get us the color we want (mars red) and the dealer incurred freight costs of $3-500.

Is this a good deal?

I think you can do better. Besides an Acq fee of a $1000 is crazy, as far as I know the highest Acq to start is $795. I would be happy to rerun the numbers for you.

Sure, that would be great. I wasn't happy with the acq. fee at all on this.

What you have provided above I did some of my own calculations from your numbers and what I got was $496 including tax...

These new C-Class really don't seem to be leasing well.

I had a couple of numbers above off. The Residual is 59% (15K lease) and the MSRP is $34558 (sticker is $35265) and an additional $120 in lisc. fees. With taxes (they are due upfront, not monthly in OH) of $1467 and acq fee added to MSRP for a total cap cost of $37090.

That could be due to two reason: it's a new model in a new model year, so MB and MB Finance can maximize profits; or the C-class could be seen as a volume model where they offer much better terms for purchase finance than leasing.

Audi is notorious even according to insiders for not leasing their cars well, an example given to me was the A3 which apparently really sucks for leasing (which lowers the volume here on the east coast) and great for purchasing (which is apparently why the west coast sells way more of this model).

Interesting demographic difference I thought that east coasters lease more while west coasters buy more - wonder if it's the same reflected in other marques as well?
