Anyone had to replace their Timing Chain?
The 2010 B180 W245.232 1.7 litre gas non-turbo engine needs a new timing chain - and only after 30,000km. It rattles on start-up for maybe no more than 1 second but it's loud and obvious what it is. I've seen quite a few youtube videos on it.
I've considered putting a new chain tensioner in it, but this seems to be a short term fix. Otherwise, the engine is in very good condition with oil changes every 6,000km.
If anyone has done this, are there any tips or suggestions? It looks like it can be done simply with the engine in the car and by connecting a new chain onto the old chain by splitting one link, and then threading it through. Any feedback is most welcome.
If anyone has had this done by a shop, any idea how many hours it took them?
