2011 E350 Cabriolet..White and Almond Mocha
I wonder if that Blue is the new Alpine Rain available on the new R and ML's?
I guess it is still up in the air whether MB will bring the B to the USA in 2006 or 2007. Canada will see it this year but not us.
BTW...it is similar in function but is not the "mini R" The R Class will have a SWB model but it will only be sold in Europe. The US keeps the 126.6" wheel base R.

I think it looks ridiculous. Toyota matrix, pontiac vibe, that mazda thing, and the even smaller chevrolet version.....what do people find atractive about this new style of mini wagons? dont be offended anyone, but geez. Like toyota ickies, I mean echo's...who wants halfacar? It amazes me, someone could stand there at say, " yeah.....thats me, I think that's attractive.."

Before it be launched there was already a brabus version

like it more and more! when i first saw it i thought it was ugly, but my opinions have changed hugely. the angle when you see the silver one's a bit strange but from everywhere else it looks sporty yet elegant. can't wait to see a few on the road.

The R is based on the W164 ML platform (totally new) and produced on the same production line in Vance, AL.
Nevada Jack...
thank you for correcting my mistake. please note that i had not indicated a fact, but rather my belief, which had stemmed from the SLK-crossfire sharing of both platform and technologies.
do you believe that the R will not share anything at all with the chrysler product?
regarding the B, do you know whether IT is a share with chrysler or any other mfr?

I am so glad the reviewers have pointed specifically to this comparison and defused the myth up front. In the case of the Crossfire, it was mentioned early on in the previews that it would share with the SLK and I think this was to benefit acceptance. The new 300 also speaks of the MB suspension but it is from the older MB technology not the newer E 2003 and newer models.
It is my understanding that the R Class will not share anything with the Pacifica or any other Chrysler product. Whether there are some minor sub parts that may get intermixed I cannot speak to. But the R Class is a totally new vehicle from the bottom up (as is the new ML) and the separation between MB and Chrysler could not be wider. I would suspect as times goes buy Daimler Chrysler will create components that will be used on both lines... lower cost considerations would demand it. But the individuality of the MB line must be maintained or the client base will be diluted.
I really know nothing about the B Class other than it will not be built or sold in the USA as of now. I would doubt that IT would share anything with Chrysler or any other manufacturer.

..shared parts or not, it looks like a pacifica.. . and to me, that dilutes the mb mark. I believe that although many, myself included, wish for an absolute seperation between the two marks, the blending of the two is inevitable. And if the styling is fooling people, what difference do the underpinnings make? especially if the cross over is supported by people who get excited about them?
very nice new photos
i actually really like the interior of the B. the A is still the craziest and coolest looking car around (besides Smart) but the interior, to me, is just so-so. B's the real thing.
btw, i'm surprised no one mentioned that the Accord and Camry actually "do" the exact same thing as the E-class. but they cost half as much. but no one ever thinks they're in the same segment, do they? :p but here just because there's something called the Pacifica we go gaga over the R, and now the B - which is totally unrelated.
