Need help - ESP Inoperative + Run Flat Indicator Inoperative
Hi all,
Recently I've been helping my mother out with her B200 W245 Mercedes. Part of my assistance involved swapping out her steering wheel (that was corroding due to some substance placed on the steering wheel that was making it permanently sticky) with one I got from my local car yard in great condition.
The installation process went well (accompanied with a Mercedes workshop manual I purchased on eBay to ensure everything was torqued correctly), however, I've noticed that after the installation a new 'ESP inoperative' and 'run flat indicator inoperative' message has appeared on the dash.
To try and overcome this, I went and got a wheel and steering wheel alignment, however the issue is still prevalent.
When I turn on the car, no error message exists, however as I turn the wheel from left to right, both error messages as in the title of this post appear (see images below).
I also noticed once when driving (which I plan to do minimally as this issue exists) the error triangle was blinking and my rear wheel lost a little traction.

Would you have any idea what this means? I'm getting a HVAC issue sorted tomorrow at my local non-dealer Mercedes specialist, however to avoid the $130p/h he charges on reviewing issues, I was hoping to come here to get some ideas first.
People have mentioned it could be the steering wheel angle sensor, and I wanted to come here to get some advice from you guys especially if you've run into this issue before.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Have you scanned your car for codes? There are quite a few reasons you will get these errors - most are simple fixes but you need a scan tool to determmine which one and to clear the error codes.
