B246 2016 Blind Spot Radar sensor
We just bought a (very) used W246 B250, with 168,000km on it. But it drives nicely and seemed okay at test. Unfortunately it appears that one of the radar sensors for the blind spot warning system needs to be replaced. I found a number of suppliers for non-OEM radar sensors, and chose one with the right part number. I have tried two non-franchised mechanic shops, both with good reputations (star ratings) and who specialise in Mercedes. Unfortunately neither of them could get the new sensors working; I don't know whether the first one tried to code the sensor or not (or even if it's possible to hook it up without coding so he would have had to). The second shop I took it to said that Mercedes had changed the specification for the radar box and that I needed a new spec one, from Mercedes (not an aftermarket brand), but it would have to have the same part number as the old one (don't ask me what they meant; I couldn't make head or tail of this).
Of the two sensors that were on the car, apparenty one works, the other does not. Yu can see by looking at them that one is rusty and one looks pretty clean. So, does anyone know the exact requirements for replacing two sensors on s B250, or even if I could have one replaced and would it work with the other, working, original part?
