Pronunciation of "coupe"
I've always heard the word pronounced "coop", but ever since an Irish coworker said "coo-pay" I can't stop saying the 2-syllable version.
Somehow it seems even more prestigious to drive a "coo-pay" vs. a home for chickens.
Your thoughts?

In Europe, people generally say "coupe" with a flat "a" sound at the end (something between an "eh" and an "ay"). Given that the word originated there, I'd say that's correct.
In the U.S., people seem to often say "coop."
I say the former unless I'm speaking with someone who insists on the latter, which reminds me too much of pigeons.
Cheers.
