You guys in this thread have not been paying attention. If you power hungry guys read the w204 threads, you will know that there is a tuner working on stuff, getting us the same gains as the new 328i 240hp-260tq+ at stage 1. Please search the forums. Also, it will help if we can support them as I would like to see more options regarding power for this car.
That is all....![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Exactly, but the problem is that we are having to aftermarket tune just to get the the base tune of a 328i. Of course the 328i folks will be able to tune to much higher levels than we can as will the 2.0TFSI Audi folks. We're going to have to upgrade turbos on the c250 if we want any power comparable to the c350 and above. I was hoping a chip and downpipe and wastegate would do it but it'll be full turbo kit.

Even with that said, I like the looks of the c class over the BMW 3. The 3 can have 500hp for all that matters, I still would choose the c. The new interior and face-lift exterior still looks dated IMHO.
I say we give the tuners some time and see what they can produce. My only gripe is that tuners love the bmw turbos. I hate the fact that I see 328s everywhere now, and with the new 2.0 turbo, I can see the tuners jumping on that platform more-so than our c250. argghhh.

Two turbos means they are on the bi-turbo wagon?
The japanese did that years ago, makes for a nice smooth car that can still make good power from factory.
But I'm wondering how much they can now get out of a tune with that system and how it affects drivability. Also to make power its a bigger change and probably harder to tune for when using a bi-turbo system, which in the Japanese cars usually resulted in just strapping a bigger single turbo on...
I just want this thing to be more fun while still having the ability cruise smoothly, the NVH on this 4 banger is the best I've run across personally.

Although I posted a very competitive figure siding with the 3 series, I doubt most C250 coupes owner bought the car based on performance. If every C250 owner sat down and thought about why they chose this car, I highly doubt (not completely) that power was an important factor.
Because power was not an important factor, I don't think anyone should burn $1K or more on any chips - Just sayin'
If you could afford to burn $1k or more, you should have gotten a C350.

I chose it because it is light, efficient and has the potential to make enough power to be fun at about the same price as the v6. Plan on owning this one for a while and cost to maintain and reliability seems good on this one if you do your own work. Neither brand is building barn stormers just fun cars.

I just wanted something stylish, comfortable, technologically advanced in terms of stock ICE (many connections and decent sound quality), and good freeway gas mileage. I got most of that, which the main stickler being the horrid turbo lag (I don't want to switch it to S all the time). There's the 60mph-70mph "lag zone" that I'm sure some of you are aware of, right before the optimal cruising speed range of ~72mph-85mph. If someone comes out with a chip between $300-$600 to bump it to 240+ hp, that marginal utility would definitely be worth it.

I'm sure they're basically just emulating what the more expensive Euro tuners are doing and mass-producing it into a cheap plug-in solution. A few hundred is definitely reasonable.
Speaking of which, a box for the new 3-series bumping the boost on the 2.0L Turbo would make it relatively quick with decent mpg. I can see it going from 240hp/36hwympg to >280hp/32hwympg which is very good. Now if only BMW would make their interiors look better....

Coming from a faster car I miss the power a lot. But I can honestly say this car makes me drive more civil and waste less gas which is good for everyone. Hopefully after this car I can get something in the 400HP range and enjoy some power again.

+1. I can't stand BMW's current Interior. I think Audi and MB makes the best looking interior.
However, if I am ever willing to sacrifice some of the love for a good interior, I would definitely jump on a BMW (never owned one).

Well, they do offer limited diesel variants in the U.S. However, not many people like/want diesels apparently, as the sales have been extremely low for those models.
Additionally, the quailty of gas and diesel in the U.S. is extremely poor when compared to Europe's offerings. As such, a lot of the time they don't bring over their best engines - as they are designed strictly for this better quality fuel. Or, if they do bring over the engines, they are de-tuned, dumbed down, and missing features so that it can safely and reliably run on this lower quality gas - resulting in a loss of horsepower, torque, fuel economy or a combination of the three.

It looks like theres a tune available for the C250 now from Burger-motorsports the same people who make the JB3 for e92 BMW's. I'm curious if anyone has seen or hear about the results? I've searched and can't really find any feedback as to whether this works or not...

It's the only available tune for this car aside from Brabus and the Renntech (aka vaporware) tune. I think there might be a few people who are on this forum testing out the JB+ right now.
