2012 C250 Coupe
Post It's the little things: Which are your favorites?

There are many small thoughtful features I've noticed since I got my C250 coupe. I thought it'd be cool to see which of them everyone has noticed and appreciated the most.

Here are my favorites:

Auto-open trunk - Really convenient when your hands are full. The flashing indicator light on the inside of the lid visible in the rear view mirror is also a nice touch.

Panoramic roof shade - Definitely has some wow factor when showing off the car. I also like that it still lets in some light when closed.

License plate LED lighting - nice to see this as a standard feature. I think MB's implementation looks the best of the lot. Very white and bright, and definitely better looking than most cars that retrofitted this aftermarket. The LED tail lights also look great at night.

1. The C shape LED, inside the headlight (Light Package)
2. Love the bucket seats (but it gets painful after a while) no money for dynamic handling Pack.
3. Flat-bottom steering wheel - actually this would go on top of the bucket seats, on the list.

Thats all i can think of right now

I really like that about the steering wheel too. That reminds me of one of the other little things I like. I love the texture of the leather on the steering wheel. I noticed the same texture on the Audi A5 I test drove as well as on the Volvo S60 I recently had as a rental. It's just nice to touch I also like the notches for your thumbs to wrap around the wheel

In the US at least, they all have a subtle flattened bottom, as shown in this pic

Interesting, I've seen that picture before but thought that was just an early pre-production render. Can you post an actual picture of your wheel?

what color is your interior? If you have the almond/mocha interior, they don't get the flat bottom wheel, only with the black steering wheel do you get the flat bottom.

I think that you have the round bottom due to your color of the interior.

That's just kinda bizarre that with that color scheme comes a different wheel. Looks like you can only get away with sticking a pinky in the bottom spoke as opposed to two fingers on the regular flat bottom.

I've never been a huge fan of 3-spoke wheels since I like to hold the wheel at the bottom where the 3rd spoke usually goes on a long drive, but found the black steering wheel tolerable since I could hold it with a couple fingers.

But hey, to each his own. It definitely gives something special to the almond/mocha color choice option.

actually bshrode, i know what you're saying about holding the bottom, and having a full round wheel really helps when i just want to use few fingers to drive the car, the middle is not nearly as wide as the flat bottom one, so you can easily just rest hands on the sides of it, it feels the same as if i was driving my 2011 C350 sedan and i am glad it's still round makes turning easier, rather than having to keep in mind that there is a little different when you making a parking lot turns. and really the gap in the middle i can barely fit a pinky in there, it'll get stuck and probably break my finger off if i try to force it. and i also like that the buttons match color, instead of silver...

Everything that has been mentioned about the car, I absolutely love! The sun-roof, LED's front and rear, the dynamic xenon headlights especially with the auto high-beam. We took delivery of the car on last Friday, and finally got to test it in dark last night. It seems every side and angle of the car truely impresses me! We are very happy, and got a fantastic deal to boot!

The lack of body roll while taking turns > 20MPH. The Quality of bluetooth calls, most people can't even tell I'm driving. The quietness of the cabin. The smoothness of acceleration above 50MPH, it's really fun driving this car at highway speeds.

Probably many more things I could say but I've only had the car for 5 days.

Another feature most of you have probably not yet discovered is the "Hold" feature. Different from the hill start assist, you can engage your hold feature when stopped by quickly and firmly depressing the brake pedal further. This will hold the brake indefinitely until the accelerator is pressed, regardless of vehicle angle. Enjoy!

Is that on all models? I once tried it before but couldn't get it to work, I just figured my C250 didn't have it

I believe I read online that the car automatically brakes the front inside wheel during the turn to pull that off. Pretty cool.

The std. Almond/Beige/Mocha MB-Tex doesn't have a flat bottom GT wheel.

This should be standard on all 2012 c-class variants. If not I will be pissed. I am picking my car up later today, I know how to properly engage it so I will post on my findings. Maybe I just messed up the description on how to do it?

Also, that is the beauty of a mercedes-benz is the lack of body-roll. Usually there is a trade off for this. If you want great handling you need hard suspension, but this will make the ride quality suffer. So usually in non-mercedes cars you will get floaty rocking suspension, or hard bone-jarring suspension. But the engineeers at mercedes have seemed to figure out how to give not only the smoothest of rides, but also some of the best handling.

And this isn't even with the ABC suspension that is in my fathers SL. If you never drove a Mercedes-Benz with ABC, DO IT! It really is amazing, I can go into corners at speeds that usually might make me nervous in any other car, and have NO body roll. the suspension raises and lowers on individual wheels to achieve this.

As far as the standard suspension, I know it doesn't do anything like that, but perhaps the car does brake inside wheels. However, I doubt this happens at slower speeds. It would probably use ESP systems for this. I'm not sure that RWD car do this either, but I am POSITIVE that the 4matic ones do...

VAG and other companies have had hill-hold for some time now... best used on M/T models.

I tried it again tonight while I was stuck behind an accident blocking all the lanes of traffic in front of me. Worked on my first try this time, came up and said HOLD just under the E/S indicator on the instrument cluster screen. Not sure why it didn't work on either of my two previous attempts. Perhaps the exact mashing of the brake requires some practice?

Nice thread, looking forward to all these 'little things' when I finally recieve my C250

Here in Aust. the flat bottom steering wheel is standard when optioned with the AMG package, otherwise you get the round wheel in plain black.

There is another package which options the car with the coloured round wheel as per mugennosora's post.

I also really like the AMG C63 steering wheel (in nappa finish) which has both top and bottom flattened profile and larger nicer looking and easier to use magnesuim paddle shifters, I have one in hand ready to install on my C250 when it arrives

Also with the AMG package the Aust. C250's get the same suspension and brakes as the C350 has as standard

The hold feature is also standard on all C250 Aust. vehicles.

Can someone please put up some pics/images of the 'auto open trunk' feature/trunk lid light - I'm intruiged by that and certainly didn't know anything about it before, nor did any of the dealers here mention it
would love to see exactly what it is TIA.
