Front Foglights on C350 Coupe '12

I haven't noticed any improvement in visibility when I use the foglights on my '12 C350 Coupe. I have the standard lights, not the lighting package. My lights are on automatic, the green light is on as well as the yellow foglight symbol.

I can see an extra bright tail light on the drivers side but when I look at the front all I see is the LED driving lights off and the normal headlights and a small light to the inside of the large headlight on. Is this how it is supposed to work? I really can't tell any difference.

I am used to the foglights on my previous cars - Audi, BMW, Acura lighting up the side of the road just beyond the front.

I believe that on Xenon cars the foglight switch only works the rear foglight, which is on the driver's side as its intent is to mark off only that corner as other cars pass you on the freeway. I thought both xenon and non-xenon cars had only rear foglights.

I don't have the Xenon lights, just the standard ones that come with it stock.

If you see the yellow fog light symbol this actually means the Daytime Running Lights are turned OFF. There are no fogs.
There's a button near the light switch to turn the DRLs on and off. (symbol is on = DRL off, symbol is off = DRL on).

Interesting. On U.S. models the DRLs are controlled from the center screen control module and the button near the headlight switch is for the rear single fog lamp.
