Roof Rack for C250

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if you need to drill holes into the roof to fit a roof rack or does it already come with the fitting mounts?

Bit concerned that the leasing company won't allow it if I have to drill holes into the roof.

Thanks,

If you opened your owner's manual you would have seen that the roof rack mounts to the roof through the provided mount locations under the little flaps at 4 points on the roof. You will have to purchace the basic rack system, then add the device you want (bike rack, luggage carrier, ski rack...)

Go to the MBUSA website and download the accessories catalog. In it is the part number for the basic rack and the different components.

does anybody know what aftermarket bike racks work for the stock OEM mercedes basic carrier system? It seems similar to the Thule Aerobars, so, I'm thinking something that fits that would work.

If you try to combine Thule with the stock system, it may or may not work. I am thinking about the Thule system for my vehicle and I have the MB basic rack and bicycle racks from a previous benz and was curious also.

It looks like the Yakima bike racks should work with the universal mighty mounts. Yea, I priced out the Yakima and Thule roof racks, and believe it or not, they were more expensive than the basic carrier through MB. I was able to get a good deal on Ebay from a MB dealer for $239 shipped for the basic carrier. The Thule and Yakima racks were running $300-400.
