2013 C350 Coupe
Backup Camera
I have read that there are no lines in the backup camera. Also on the C250 I test drove it did not have lines either. But on the MBUSA website on the C Class they are showing lines? Is this false advertisement.

Three MAJOR things here...
1). The current interface for the 2012 model year is matte/flat black and gold-ish, not "glassified" black, silver and red.
2. With the exception of the "back" icon, those shown in the photo simply do not exist in the 2012 C250 US version.
3. The lines that can be turned on in the US version aren't dynamic, meaning that they don't move when you turn the steering wheel as is implied by the screenshot.
This might not be the case with the 2012 C63, but it certain is with the 2012 C250. I think what you've actually got is a COMMAND 2.0 screenshot.
Anybody in here with a C63 want to weigh in?

A post where people talk about it in the engineering menu.

Interesting read, I havn't come across this feature in any C Class before even those here in Aust. I do recall seeing similar in other car types though, it may be a feature of higher MB end models ??
Are those guidelines of any use or benefit ?? knowing exact distance of the object behind you could be very useful, next time I'm at my MB dealer I'll pop the question on this one.

No Lines / Colors for my '12 C350 Coupe.
This is probably the worse back up cam in all the luxury brands IMHO.
It is angled wrong, it looks like you're staring out of a fish bowl. No lane guidance and it fogs up when it rains. This is the biggest grief I have with the car. Not that I need a backup cam, but going from an Audi S5 backup cam to this made me hate BM cam even more.

You are right about it becoming obscured in wet conditions, that's happened to me a few times now LOL, but you can get around it
I suppose they are getting better and better across the board, I've seen some of the latest Japanese brand reverse cams on SUV's and they're brilliant for all round rearward visibility.

2013 C300 Sport
I got my new C300 2013 and looking forward to install backup camera.
Can someone please post a picture of OEM camera on 2013 c250, c300 or C350 which come from dealer and not installed by owner.
I cannot find enough info if 2013 has the same mount as 2010/11.
I was able to enable camera in the menu but also do not have grid lines. This completely sucks.
I have Mitsubishi Outlander 2010 and it has rear camera with lines. And this is not a luxury car. Outlander has very similar navigation/multimedia unit (same manufacture and internal OS).
I am looking in purchasing camera on eBay which has grid lines so obviously option like Kenwood CCD for $200 is not for me. It does not have lines. On other hands camera for $10 has lines as well as Kenwood CMOS 310. But the last one is $250.

I am also curious about this. The back up camera in my 2013 c300 seems very distorted and uneven. Is this normal? I also wish I had guidence lines. I've got blind side and lane departure.
As I get older I appreciate these aids .

@NauticaX Unfortunately, I think that distortion is due to the type of lens they used for the camera. Mine has this distortion as well, but not as pronounced (as near as I can tell). Another weird thing about our setup is that the camera is skewed to one side instead of being centered on the back. Odd, in my opinion... and my guess is that's probably a factor in why they disabled the lines too.

umm, it certainly could be. I don't know about YOUR model, but my 2012 C250's handle is recessed. The camera is self-contained and protrudes. If there was a space issue they could have located it elsewhere, in the center... IMHO.

Its happen because you use power source from rear tail right, which is not stable. You must use power from SAM direct (Not from rear rigjt by
1. using add-a-fuse to connect to Sam at fuse #71 ( Cigarette lighter)
or
2. Use power source from rear cigarette lighther at rear seat. Also it has a fuse to protection. I use this method.

I have a 2013 C300 Sport that I desperately want to have a rear cameral installed. Can someone please recommend a camera that is compatible. Also, I can't find any Youtube videos are any information on installing on a 2013. Can anyone share the install instructions. I can't install myself. I have to find someone to do this for me and I want to ensure they have all the information they need to do it correctly.
Thanks
