Trade in C coupe for CLA AMG?
#2
I thought about it but decided against it. For a base price of $30k MB must have skimped on something to save costs. Yes the CLA45 AMG is about $50K but the improvements are centered around the engine, suspension, etc. and not around the "comfort" of the car. Guess I'll have to wait and see what the CLA interior looks like in person compared to the C class (not a fan of the new screen).
I'd rather hold off for the 2015 C coupe.

The CLA 45 AMG certainly looks unreal.
Maybe down the track worth looking at. For now though I like my rear wheel drive and my N/A 6 cylinder with its distinctly different sound.
That's not a dig at you C250 drivers btw - I'm just not ready for a 4 cylinder turbo yet - even though they are getting to become pretty unreal. The turbo whistle on the CLA sounds unreal. If they bring the new 400 engine out in a C Coupe I'd probably want that even if it is a little slower.

Not to mention every man and his dog is going to want a CLA45 AMG. When stock gets good they're gonna be more common than unleaded at a servo...
Looking at what's coming out if people are going wow how good is the CLA - the new C Coupe will just be in another league entirely come 2015.
The 400 engine is also likely massively under tuned unlike the 45 engine. With a bit of work you could probably be around the 300 kilowatt mark.
Each to their own though. There's no doubt the CLA 45 is going to be a cracking car. I'd happily have one.

Yes. I love the look both exterior and interior of my C-coupe but its lacking in performance...and not having DCT.
I'm also curious as to what Mercedes is skimping on with the new CLA class compared to the C class. Perhaps they've already cut costs on the current C-class from previous years in preparation for the CLA, and will further separate the next generation C.

I'm actually in the market for an A45 variant, ie. the hatch but will wait untill the full model list has been released before making any firm decisions and definitely will not be replacing my C250-CDI C Class Coupe, the AMG will be an additional MB in the garage ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Talking with my MB rep only yesterday, I was informed of several more A Class AMG variants on the way over the next 3 years or so, they include a 3 door variant of the A45 hatch, a 2 door coupe variant of the CLA45 (people wanting to replace the c coupe may want to wait for that one) and a convertible - hopefully a hard top![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
He also said that apparently the new CLA range will replace or take the place market wise of the current C Class range as the new C Class will morth into a larger and substantially different vehicle to what it currently is.

I saw it today while walking on NY auto show, I like new rims and overall outside look. I like vented drilled/painted brakes for both front and rear. But I wouldn't jump on it out of my C350 coupe ...

For a start they feature the most powerful and advanced turbo IL4 cylinder petrol production engine ever made.
Performance wise if you compare them to a current C63, they are just as quick or fast and have better handling, especially the hatch.
If you throw in a wet or loose surface scenario the A Class AMG's will completely outperform a C63 or any RWD only AMG because it has the advantage of reverting to AWD in such conditions, it's no surprise AWD is being introduced to many other new AMG's !
The A45 variant has already clocked a Nurburgring time superior to the new BMW 135i M and current Audi RS3, I'd say that more than qualifies it as a genuine and even standout AMG model

Eagerly awaiting for the entire model line up to be released and test driving them all

MB and AMG will definitely want to take advantage of the popular and lucrative hot hatch market with the A45 variant, so marketing will definitely come into play but there's nothing 'gimmicky' about the credentials and performance of any of these new A Class AMG's ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Why do you think they start this car with AMG but not regular non-AMG model?

Here in Australia only the A180 and A250 have so far been offered, the A45 and CLA45 won't arrive until later this year and next year respectively
