C350 Recall 2014050001 Tail Lamp Carrier

I have had the C350 since 2008 and never had any tail lamp issues. I took this in for the recall, and 4 months later the right side tail lamp is now intermittent!

This whole tail light issue does indeed seem to be a common problem, however some cases like mine turned out to be harmless whereas a lot of other people have had major issues.

Here's an older thread from the W204 section for reference:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...rake-lamp.html

I found the above from researching after my C204 recently also showed up the all too common tail light fault warning.

However unlike most other cases I've read up on mine actually faulted correctly, it said fault to park lamp right side, it was the right side park lamp that had blown, (looking at the vehicle from behind).

I replaced the bulb in question and it's all good - fault warning gone

I also closely inspected the wiring loom and harnesses and bulb seating positions and found nothing of the common problems usually associated with many others, no melted parts or overheated/burn wiring

Mine has had high usage as well it's now just over 3 years old, early 2012 build with just over 60,000km and I always use the courtesy parking light function at night, so there's definitely no problems with mine overheating the wiring.

I'm thinking the later face lifted LED assemblies are more reliable than the older tail light assemblies.

I remember going into the dealer to fix a taillight that had gone out because of corroded wiring, they charged me for everything and didn't disclose a recall

I'm just now in the middle of August 2015 getting an email from the dealer about a recall
