Help! Long crank time with the code P0340
Hey guys, new mercedes owner here
I been having long crank time ( three to five sec crank) on my 2012 c250 with 46k miles for the past 2 days. At first, the issue came up during morning start, but today, it started to show after the engine is warmed as well and the P0340 code came up.
The engine idle and run fine, and there are no other codes. Anyone hear have experience with this code? Is Camshaft or crankshaft sensor need to be replace? thanks guys!

sorry for bringing up old post..but did you ever get this issue resolved?
Cause I have the same exact issue. I have 43K on the car.
Here is what happened:
First trip to MB dealer:
1) your startup is fine..we tested the battery and it's 100% good
2) you used an aftermarket oil filter that was missing a rubber o ring. Could have reduced oil pressure and cause the code.
They charged me $130 for diagnosis and $80-$90 for oil change (since my car ran out of warranty 2 months ago).
I drove off...check engine light came back on..and still have hard long start.
Dropped off car at MB dealer.
3 days later, "you need to replace camshaft adjuster = $2000 parts and labor....but we're not exactly sure if that will solve it. We won't know till we get inside the engine."
I just got the quote today. They are waiting several days for part to show up.

Zichen, did you ever get the issue resolved?
I backed out of the mercedes quote/diagnosis..since they weren't completely sure if changing the Cam adjusters would solve the issue.
I went and changed out both of my cam sensors..and even disconnected my battery for a good 30 mins to reset the computer...and nothing...I still have the issue.
Everytime I try to start the car on the first try, it takes a good 3-4 seconds before it cranks...and the sound from the engine is a tad strange when the car does run. So I always immediately shut off the car..and restart, and then it cranks up superfast (normal) and car runs smooth.
I'm really scratching my head on this one. I can keep doing the double start...but it's just super annoying and embarrassing especially for a brand new looking benz.
And on top of things, I never get a check engine light anymore. The first time this ever happened, I got the same P0340 code.

You should insist on the goodwill warranty this is not normal because the chain, camshaft adjusters are not a serviceable part and should last the life of the engine. You are just out of warranty so you should insist on this goodwill warranty and try to speak directly to manager or even contact mbusa. This is not normal whatever they say to make you pay for it. Don't give up easy.
Also your car registered the errors in the ecu probably before your warranty was expired so basically your car broke during warranty so they have to fix it anyway. Just a suggestion...

Thanks Primix for the motivation. I'll definitely push to see how far I can go before biting the bullet on dishing out funds.
This morning, I spoke with the Mercedes dealership that diagnosed my car and brought up goodwill and he said he will have to check with his manager once he's in the office.
IF they refuse, what's the best way to contact MBUSA directly...not at dealer level? Just their 800 number? or is there a better direct line?

They are writing up an estimate with a discount to win my business.

So Mercedes USA told me to pound sand...but the dealer just called me and gave me 75% off the repair to get my business and future business.
Deal. I'm going to do it.

What was the result
I have this same issue currently on my 2012 c250 and they want $4100 for the service but offered me a 50% reduction. Did that fix the issue? I want to make sure it's not just the magnets.
