2012 c250 1.8 engine fan

currently experiencing a problem with my engine fan constantly running. Took it to a shop to read code and was told my coolant and or freon was low. Recharged freon and that has not fixed the problem. Now i am being told its my temperature sensor and that i need to replace my ect housing. Before doing that or bringing car into dealership was wondering if anyone had similar problems or if the sensor is indeed faulty. Previously replaced and reprogrammed my ecm and was wondering if there could somehow be a link between the two. Please help before i run out of money and patience. Thanks.

Does the temperature display properly?

It has been doing this since you replaced the ME?

I've seen a bunch of stupid issues on the 271 ME when flashing or running diagnostic tests, sometimes it requires a hard reset (unplug battery, press brake pedal to remove any residual power, disconnect M/E for a few minutes) just to make the car start again.
