The steering computer module on my 2014 E350 failed a few days ago. Car started but I could not get it out of park. Hours later a tow truck driver disconnected the front and rear battery for about 5 minutes and the computer reset. Pretty clever as I was then able to drive it to the dealer. It was under warranty so there was no cost to fix it. I've only had the car a few months. So, is this a common occurrence?
