Creaks and rattles in 2019

I am absolutely in love with my 2019 C300 Coupe - but one thing that I've noticed vs. previous Benzes is intermittent creaks and rattles are much more prevalent in the cabin.

For example, one of the creaks sounds like it's coming from the center-right of the dash and it only occurs when there is significant pressure on the suspension, body roll or other like motions. It's not loud but very noticeable. It also seems to come and go depending literally on the weather - don't know whether it's temperature, pressure, humidity - etc. to the point where I took it into the dealer and they couldn't replicate it, but a few days later it returned.

Also, the C has developed a bit of a rattle in the left driver window. It almost seems like the window itself is a bit loose or there is some kind of gap allowing it to travel, but the window works perfectly and seems perfectly secure.

Either way I love my C, look back at it almost every time I park it - but wanted to see if other folks here have noticed these things creep up.

There is another thread here already regarding. A lot of us seem to be having this and other rattle/creak issues. I just got mine back yet again from my dealer and they cannot get it to duplicate. We all need to be reporting this to the top at MB.

Same here. It seems to only rattle when I let off the gas for me. Planning on taking it to the dealer soon.

Get it right since it's still under warranty. Don't settle.

Yeah I'll bring it in - just been hard to justify the time away from work to take care of it. I'm just bummed at the fact that the interior build quality is so low, when the exterior appearance is so awesome.

Just wanted to update this thread as I got my issue resolved at the dealership service center today, fully warranty covered of course. Very audible creak was easily replicated for the master tech when I dropped the car off this morning. Turned out to be an issue with the passenger side A pillar that required removing the cover, adjusting some clips and inserting some felt. Drove it home today and loved having the issue resolved, hoping it holds.

Good luck! It's great over here in no noise land - if they are able to resolve please follow up with the resolution. I just always make sure that I can very very clearly replicate the issue with the service tech driving first - avoids repeat trips to the dealer.

2017 C300 Coupe
My previous car was a GLK, it was so solid, and never had a single problem in nearly 80,000 km. My current 2017 C300 coupe is so creaky, drives me nuts. Transmission is having issues too. Only 58,000 km on it.

2015 E400 and 2015 GLK350
Hey guys! It may not be the same chassis, but my E400 had a creaking noise that I, along with two dealers, swore came from the left front suspension when the left front spring was compressed going over a speed bump or down through a dip in the pavement. My car spent over 7 weeks at two different dealers over a 3 1/2 year period with NO solution! They changed the strut, strut bushings, anti-sway bar end links and bushings and who remembers what else. Still creaky.

I finally decided I had enough. I started web searching back to 2010 when the W212 chassis was first introduced. I found somebody who had the same noise! Only One! His noise was caused by the plastic bumpers that the hood closes onto. They were dry, and when the body flexed going over dips and bumps, the hood moved over the plastic buttons and creaked! I spent about $4 and 30 minutes on it. I bought a tube of silicone grease and rubbed it onto all the hood bumpers and weather strips around the hood and doors. WOW! The car is nearly silent!

This may or may not be your issue, but it is cheap, easy and harmless to grease it all up and see. Good luck!

@Brittnie Jane Did they fix the driver's side window rattle? If so did they explain the cause in the service notes?

Took mine to the dealer on Monday and was able was able to have the technician take me to work and he heard the rattling. They text me Friday and stated they were having a hard time finding the cause of the rattling but are ordering new motor mounts to see if it takes care of the rattling.

They removed the door panel and adjusted the window regulator tracks then reinstalled the door panel and lubricated the seal. So far, so good.

Rattling resolved

It turned out to be being the fuel lines in the engine bay hitting each other. They insulated them and no more rattling!

Seat is rattling again! Something in the dash around the center control panel area is rattling off and on and my shift stick is rattling. I am so over driving a $60,000 car that sounds like junk!! I really do not think that I will purchase another Mercedes vehicle again and I've owned three!I am so sick of my brand new car staying in the shop!

And what would be the point in filing for lemon law when the dealership states that all new C300s have the same issues?!

Is this not grounds for a recall of all new C300s?

Probably not grounds for lemon law as I'm pretty sure that's just for cars that are safety risks or outright do not function.

It's definitely frustrating I imagine, but I have had a couple of creaks here and they're and they're pretty much resolved.

Also if you have the 19" wheels you're going to have a rougher ride in general which can create more potential noise.

My lesson learned from this is to not buy the first year of a new model or a new model refresh - there are always little nits that they iron out. Almost every other one of my Benzes has been a non first year model or refresh and they've always had zero issues. Only exception is my wife's 2012 SLK which is the first model year of the R172 and is an absolute tank for some reason, just hoping that continues as we've hit 60k miles on that!

Overall still very satisfied with the car in basically every other way here. Still looking back after I park it!

I found an attorney. Lemon Law in Louisiana states, 44 days in service within 1 year or 4 times having the same issue and can not correct it. I've owned my car for 6 months, it's been in service 22 days and going back in on Monday. This will also be the 4th attempt at correcting two of the issues.

I am not sure how far you will get. Maybe it is just me but do parts have to malfunction in order for it to be a lemon law?

Just to follow up I began to experience pretty serious rattling in both the driver side and passenger side doors over time. It progressively got worse as the doors were used more and was terrible when driving over rough roads. After the A pillar creaking and now this - was not very happy about the interior build quality.

The dealership service staff acknowledged that there have been issues with creaking and rattling in Cs, both sedan and coupe.

This week I dropped my car off at the dealer on Tuesday morning in the hands of their most experienced tech and he kept it for three days. According to their notes, on the driver side door, they removed the door panel and didn't find any loose components. They applied felt tape to the interior panel where it contacts the door frame, reinstalled the door panel, and the sound went away.

Did the same for the passenger door, no loose components, felted door where it met the frame, went away.

Picked it up, drove it home for 20 minutes completely silent (not even the fan) and didn't hear a thing. The door closing actually feels a notch more solid as well now since the felt tape was installed - a little more of that satisfying "clunk."

Hoping it sticks, but man - it feels great to feel like I'm driving a rock solid Mercedes again. Be vigilant and you will get rid of the noises.

My car is now basically felt tape and whatever they keep putting in my passenger seat to "weigh it down." All rattles are back now. It stinks from the felt tape glue every time I turn the ac on, I can only imagine what the heat is going to smell like! Not to mention if this "weight" they keep adding to my passenger seat is interfering with the seat integrity and what could happen if I were involved in an accident. I'm bringing it back in and it will be two times in past lemon law, called attorney this morning and left a voicemail.

Yes I can confirm the rattles and noises are back. Came back a few days after the service visit. Specifically around the drivers side window, if I could just get rid of that one I’d actually be happy. Bringing in soon for Service A and will give it another go.

Mines does it too while I apply brakes slowly and the creaking sound comes in. Like an old rocking chair. Anyone found a solution to this??
