Slow 0-60 C300 Coupe 4matic

My C300 Coupe 4matic has 20000 miles on the clock. I bought it 2nd hand and the service history is immaculate everything on time and 0 problems. I also had the B service at the dealer the same day I bought it.

However, the 0-60 time I have is nowhere near the advertised 6 seconds.

I usually get 8 to 8.3 seconds. It seems the problem is launching the car. When the car is fully stopped, and I mash the pedal, it takes a little for it to move. This does not happen when I don't fully depress the pedal. For example on intersections or traffic lights it moves instantly. But if on a stop I fully depress the pedal the car takes a little to move like its doing some calculations of some sort. This is in Sport+ mode, same on manual.

Once the car is moving it's quick, and you can feel that if you're doing 5-15 mph and fully depressing the pedal it really flies. Also, the car spec say max torque is on 1800-2000 rpm. This is exactly the range where I feel the car is lacking. It seems to pick up at 2500-3000.

I know advertised 0-60 is very much so, advertised under specific conditions. But 2 seconds difference is massive, and consistently getting so is a disaster.

I checked tire pressure, reset the transmission adaptive thing, and checked the car at the dealer. They say there is nothing wrong with it. They also checked it on the dealer computer software and it detected no problems. Oils and filters were changed at the recent B service.

Yet there is a fact that remains, my supposedly 6 sec 0-6 car only goes there in about 8 seconds. What can I do?

Model year is 2017 with 7G transmission.

Have you got it in sports on the transmission? Maybe it is slow to take off on economy. I drove one of these recently thinking I might flick my now 4 year old E400 but after driving it I decided to stay with what I have. No disrespect intended but the performance was just not what I like in a car. The coupe is beautiful to look at.

How are you measuring 0-60? On a dyno or using an app?

I find it very hard to believe that in Sport+ or Manual (properly executed) it'd be 0-60 in 8 seconds. I know that's definitely not the case in my 2019. I could see that in Economy driving mode, which is very slow off the line and more tuned for highway cruising.

And yes the difference between the E400 and C300 will be pronounced off the line due to the E400 being naturally aspirated with higher torque, and the C300 being turbocharged with lower torque. But overall, it adds up to about one second of difference from 0 to 60.

Well, the 2015 E400 is really a twin-turbo 3.0l V6. The M276DELA30 is rated to deliver maximum torque (354 lb-ft) from 1300 RPM onward. It should smoke the C300, especially when in Sport mode. Also, the Car and Driver Instrumented Test Report, published in August, 2015, indicated that their test E400 did the 0-60 blast in 5.0 seconds.

Stand corrected on that one. It will always win yes- but it’s not that big of a difference on paper as it feels. The C300 in sport plus is spirited and driving a four banger hard is definitely a different experience but it can be done.

I get it though- and my last car was an E and I loved it, sedan though.

There is no way the C300 4M is doing 0-60 in 8.0+ seconds. Either you are a bad driver or something is wrong with the car. I personally think the 0-60 time is advertised as realistic and maybe the car is not in S Mode and the Economy button is on. Also, what kind of tires do you have on it?
