Android 10.25 advice

Hi guys,

I've decided to take the plunge and get one of these. Wondering if anyone who has one already can answer a couple of questions for me.

Are Road top and carlife mall selling the same units as they look identical but there is quite a difference in price?

Ive contacted carlife and they have advised that an android 10 version will be released soon but they can't give a date, would you guys advise holding off and waiting for android 10?

Does android auto work straight from the box or do I need to purchase any additional connections?

If you have it installed, how are you getting on with it.

I purchased one from Road Top (via Amazon) a couple of weeks ago. All of these units seem to be identical (at the very least, they're made by the same manufacturer and the distributors might make small tweaks.) All of the passwords on the "secret menus" are the same on mine and the ones that people bought from Carlife mall. From all of the research I did, it seems that every time they do an update, either to the UI or the Android system that it is based off of, there are some bugs that they need to resolve. IMHO, I would purchase now instead of waiting for Android 10, since they've pretty much figured this system out. Android Auto on the 10.25 inch screens does not work out of the box. You need to order a dongle that enables it and install the "Autokit" app on the screen. Some manufacturers recommend that you buy the dongle from them, but they all send out the Carlink dongle, which you can get on Amazon. Thankfully, this is the only extra piece that you need to buy.

I installed it myself, and it is pretty straightforward. The Road Top one came with a bunch of instructions with pictures, but I would recommend that you go to YouTube and watch some of the install videos that people have done, it will help you understand what you need to do if you're planning to do the install yourself. I absolutely love the screen and have had no problems with it. I have to admit that I almost exclusively use Android Auto, so I can't comment on the built-in video and music apps, but using all of the other parts of the unit and using Android Auto with it is awesome. I'm happy to answer any other specific questions you have if I've missed something that you want to know. Otherwise, good luck!
