Smile My First Benz- C Class Coupe

Ever since I started driving a Mercedes-Benz, I’ve noticed something funny—every single time, without fail, another Mercedes driver will always give me way when I’m trying to pull out of a junction or merge into another lane. It’s like there’s this unspoken Benz bond on the roads. But BMW drivers? Lmao, they never have, and I don’t think they ever will. What’s up with that? 😂

By the way, I’m driving a 2018 C-Class Coupe, the C200 1.5 mild hybrid in sleek obsidian black. It’s been my (realistic) dream car for years—ever since I watched this beauty glide past me one day while I had an Oyster card in my pocket. Now that I’ve got the "Baby S-Class" in my hands, I’ve realized a few things and have some burning questions I can’t seem to get clear answers to online.

About the car: It’s a meticulously kept, clean obsidian black coupe with a stunning cream leather interior, a panoramic roof, and the Burmester sound system. Theses specs were my biggest selling point! I’ve always valued style, luxury, and comfort over raw power, so when I found this beauty at a dealership, I didn’t hesitate. But let’s be real, I’ll probably want more speed and power eventually. 😅

Here’s a pic of her in all her glory:
My C-Class Coupe

Having read through different threads here, I’ve realized how helpful and welcoming this space is. It really feels like the “Benz Brotherhood,” and I’m hoping you guys can help another brother out with some advice.

Here are a few things I’m wondering about and appreciate any advice or suggestions from your experiences

  1. Ambient Lighting
I’ve only got the basic three colours (amber, white, turquoise). I’ve seen that the E-Class has more vibrant colours and options. Should I upgrade? And if so, should I do it through an official Mercedes-Benz dealership, or are third-party companies worth considering?
  2. Command Display
My car has the 8.4-inch display, but I’ve always wanted that 13-inch widescreen beauty. Is it better to go through a Mercedes dealership for the upgrade, or can I trust some of the third-party options? I’m really looking for Apple CarPlay, and I’ve seen a lot of non-official versions online, which worries me a bit.
  3. Alloy Rims
I think mine are 17-inch, and they look a bit small. I’m considering upgrading to 18 or 19-inch black multi-spoke rims. Is it worth it for aesthetics and overall handling?
  4. Brake Disc Pads
On closer inspection, my brake discs look a bit rusty and old. Should I replace them, or can I just have them cleaned up and maybe painted black for a fresh look?
  5. Grilles
I currently have a black diamond grille, but I’ve always wanted that shine of the diamond chrome grille. Is it worth upgrading to that, even though mine is a pre-facelift model?
  6. Steering Wheel
My steering wheel is completely circular, unlike some of the flat-bottom ones I’ve seen. Is this an easy upgrade? And does it make a big difference in driving feel?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out! Appreciate all the wisdom from the Benz fam.

Hi, and Welcome !

Not an Active Forum as might have guessed by now
Way too any subsections, which really limits views to Posts
And just not enough Enthusiasts wanting share the Joys of C Class Coupe Ownership

I'll Give it my best in answering your Questions:

  1. Ambient Lighting
I’ve only got the basic three colours (amber, white, turquoise). I’ve seen that the E-Class has more vibrant colours and options. Should I upgrade? And if so, should I do it through an official Mercedes-Benz dealership, or are third-party companies worth considering?
Lucky You ! I have a '17 and don't have the Color Option
Not worth the effort to go with a bigger display in my opinion, I just bluetooth Pandora, and if I need Navigation, use Google Maps and look at the iPhone on a Vent Mounted Phone Holder
  1. Alloy Rims
I think mine are 17-inch, and they look a bit small. I’m considering upgrading to 18 or 19-inch black multi-spoke rims. Is it worth it for aesthetics and overall handling?
Lucky Me ! I have the USA AMG Trim Package that came with Gray AMG 5 Spokes - I think they're just right as far as Looks & Handling - Not Too Big ~ Not Too Small ~ JUST RIGHT
  1. Brake Disc Pads
On closer inspection, my brake discs look a bit rusty and old. Should I replace them, or can I just have them cleaned up and maybe painted black for a fresh look?
Yeah, the Rotors can get some Oxidation and Not Look to Bright and Shiny and New, but if the Stop Car Good, Be hApPy at that. The Car is the Looker and Eye Appeal ~ not the Rotors or Calipers
  1. Grilles
I currently have a black diamond grille, but I’ve always wanted that shine of the diamond chrome grille. Is it worth upgrading to that, even though mine is a pre-facelift model?
I would't think of a Grille Swap ~ Own the Grille you Got and rock it
  1. Steering Wheel
My steering wheel is completely circular, unlike some of the flat-bottom ones I’ve seen. Is this an easy upgrade? And does it make a big difference in driving feel?
I have the Flat Bottom Wheel ~ Not a Big Deal ~ Keep yours as is and ENJOY your Coupe

Bro, C300 AMG/night package is what you need. Cheaper to buy mine if you're interested than to do all those individual upgrades.
