I'm running McIntosh MX406 head unit, McIntosh MCC404 amp for rears and sub, and McIntosh MCC302 amp for fronts. Speakers are Focal Utopia 165W front, and Focal Polyglass rear.

Not sure as there are very few McIntosh dealers. I can probably get my hands on another one if you're willing to wait. It's anywhere from $1000-1300 at most places. Some places will mark it up as far as 1400-1500 because they know that few places stock it.

that McIntosh HU is something else. Specs on it are impressive, tho it does lack some of the features we all would come to expect of a $1k+ HU: MP3s, etc.

I'm running stock BOSE but will be dropping an Infinity Basslink in the trunk this week, removing the first aid kit and replacing it with a vent for the sub.

Beyond what the specs are on paper, you really have to just hear the difference it makes over other "premium" head units. Agreed that it is fairly stripped down spec wise. My last unit was the Eclipse AV8533, which had more specs than I knew what to do with, but this time around I'm focusing on sound quality only. On paper, you'd think that the AV8533 would be every bit as clean sounding as the MX406, but that just simply isn't the case.

Im running
x2 Rockford Fosgate 12" P2 Punch Subs 450rms i believe 600max
in an enclosed dual 12" box by q-logic
1000watt kenwood amp
connected to a stage 1 cap
i have pioneer speakers along with sony xplod's(which i am planning on replacing becuz i've learned the hard way that xplod's suck) i have a pioneer deck DEG-6400 HU. i am still in the process, but basically done with dynamatting my whole trunk.
and let me tell you, dynamating is worth the $(well, i get a discount from my job so its about half the price for me), but the bass is [no joke] at least doubled from the point at where i would max my music, it now is at that same bass level at just around half the volume. the bass is deeper as well as rattling from the trunk is decuded by abour 80-90%. anyhow. thats about it.

hey, i have figured already that my first aid kit box on the rear deck causes some rattling when i have my subs kicking. how do you plan on removing it and turning it into a sub vent? because this i think is a very good idea, because it is a fairly large hole and would reduce even more rattling. I am thinking about finding a custom speaker cover to fit the whole or something because the cover will not be able to close after removing the box, which includes the latch for the cover. thanks.
