Here's a website that has pretty good information on what you're asking about recharging your own car. You can find their product in most auto discount stores like Autozone, Pep Boys, Discount Auto and others. Pay close attention to the part about making sure which coolant you have in your car now. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Good luck.

hey, just charged mine but had to replace the reciever/drier though. the one that sits in the front next to the fans is where the refrigerant needs to be evacuated. the one that sits down next to the engine is where you charge it. The hook ups for the charge kit are idiot proof (they're different sizes) The car requires two and a half cans (roughly)

Since your a/c was cold last year and not this year, you may have a leak......so don't get your hopes up. Make sure you have an expert with you when you try to recharge it though. Good luck.

What refigerant did you use to refill and how many cans did you go through? I assume that you used this setup or equivalent...

I tried to charge my a/c in my c220 today. I located the two ports. My gauge that I bought from Auto Zone seemed to fit the valve ok but didn't seem very snug. But I realize it will not fit on the wrong port because the other port is too large in diameter. I emptied a 12oz can of freon but not sure If it really got sucked in properly. I got a reading from the gauge at about 20lbs for a few seconds but then it just went to zero. The air did not get any cooler. Any suggestions?
