High Beams Don't Work

Need a little help from the forum before I spend too much at the dealer.

My 1996 C280 headlights work fine on low beams. When I click on the high beams, either flashing them or on steady, the lights go completely out.

Anybody know why or wha the fix is?

Thanks for any help!

change the bulb first see if that's the problem. Remeber our bulb type is H4, so the high and low beam is under the same bulb.

Thanks,

I didn't know that it was one bulb, I'll try that first.

Ok guys, bulbs are good and fuses look good. Brights still don't work. Switch on the steering column maybe?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Well looks like it is somethig either in the headlight switch on the dash or the stalk on the steering column. New bulb did not go to brights and fuses look good. Looks like this one will cost some money. Thanks for the help. I will let you know what the cause was for future reference.

I have the same problem on the same exact car. 1996 C280 I see this was done last year (6/10). Any resolution to this problem before I start tearing things apart?
