two din sized units on the dash

hi,
i'm new so please bear with me... i've got a 1998 c180 and want to fit a motorised screen and a stero in the dash. i haven't got air con, so underneath the stero location is a small recess. i've noticed to star shape screws at the top of this rub bit. if i was to remove this rubber it, would it enable me to fit a din sized head unit in there?

.
why not just get a motorized screen w/cd/dvd built in so you only use 1 din... thats what i have, works well althought getting to HVAC is tricky as you have to lower screen to change settings.

Funny thing was I had the same problem, so I went to a non-motorized screen for my carPC. It helped, but finally I just moved it to where the AC unit was originally cause it's easier to get to and it blocks nothing. Now given that that DIN isn't as deep as the stereo or the pocket down below, the monitor sticks out from the dash a lot. It kinda makes it look funny when it's closed, but if I leave it open it looks alright and it actually makes it much easier to get to without taking my eyes of the road. I will probably post pics in my thread here shortly of the change in position.
