C280 W202 H&R Springs for sale
I have a set of H&R sport springs for the W202 96 and newer.
I had these installed on my 1996 C280 for about a year. They made the car very low! Even with the largest spring pad spacers the car was very agressive looking. The car handled incredible!!! It was even better when I got the H&R sway bars. I loved how it's ride was... pretty much outhandled any stock car on the road. I was annoyed by having to be careful pulling into parking garages with steep driveway inclines.
After calling H&R about the extreme drop of about 2.75 to 3 inches I found out that I was sold the wrong springs from the H&R distributor. My car was manufactured in 11/95 and is considered by H&R a 1995 even though it's a 1996 model year. I couldn't get the proper H&R due to a metal shortage so I got the Eibach prokit. DISAPPOINTED!!! The eibach pro kit is much softer than the H&R sports. The rate of progression seemed to stay soft much longer into an agressive turn than the H&R's. I felt like my handling was reduced by 25% with the Eibach prokit. It was not the same car...
For anyone wondering what the difference is on the springs from 95 to 96, as best I could tell, it is the design of the top and bottom mounting points of the springs. On the 94-95 W202 the spring coil is just wound to a simple cut off point. So the final seating point is a 1 inch patch of coil that seats into the car, top and bottom. On the 96 & newer W202 springs the point of contact with the car is FLAT. Imagine taking the standard coil and placing it on a belt grinder. You would end up with nearly a 360 degree full circle point of contact to seat with the car. So the 94-95 spring design if left to stand up vertically on its own would just fall over horizontally, while the 96 and newer spring can stand up vertically and not fall over.
Anyway after the tranny went at 190K I sold the car with the Eibachs and H&R swar bar... So I still have the H&R springs for a W202 manufactured after 1/96.
Make an offer.
