OEM CD Install

Does anyone have instructions or can anyone explain the procedure on installing a factory CD player in a 1999 C230?

Ordered the CD player and they have zip for install instructions and I do not readily see the fiber optic cable and/or CD connections.

many thanks.

You may need to dig around in the trunk to find the connections. I would start by removing the carpet, then fish around behind the trunk liner, don't forget to look on both sides.

Good luck.

I just did the install for the OEM cd player on a 2000 C230k, which uses the fiber optic system. Here's what you need to do:
Open trunk and look to your right. Pull back the carpet all the way on the right side (pull the carpet, don't be afraid to pull the plastic screws-they pop right back in.
Now, once pulled back you will see two plugs over to your right, closer to the taillights than the backseat. One plug will be the power plug and the other will be the fiber optic. One of the plugs has three different color wires (red, blue and something else). The other plug has two orange or brown looking wires.
The next trick is to carefully slide both of these plugs underneath and to the far left so that you have both plugs free and clear from the right hand side. In other words, look at the far northeast part of the trunk. the wires should now come directly from this quadrant towards you.
Now you are ready to put the carpeting back and you will have all of the slack that you need to plug in to the cd player and install the mounting brackets, etc.
