headlight Assembly
headlight Assembly
Anybody out there have, or know where I can get ahold of a passenger side headlight assembly('96)?
I REALLY only need the bulb retaining clip for the driver's light. I was changing the bulb out in the dark and it popped off and I can't find it anywhere. Seems crazy to buy a whole new assembly for what amounts to a paperclip.
Anybody know of a body shop or something that may have one crushed up?

I've give them a call. I think I've contact them before and they wanted me to get the whole assembly to. I really only need the clip and would hate to drop 50+ bucks for a paper clip.
Hmm..the retaining clip for the 94-96 and 97-00 are different...the older headlights used a 9004 bulb, and the newer ones used a H7 from what I remember...so the clip is probably different..
just use a paper clip.
or something a little stronger...i'm sure you can find some suitable wires at home depot or something...
good luck!

i have same experience here, my child safety lock switch (for rear windows disable function) located on the shift gate fell off. I called around all MB dealer and they are asking $100+ for a complete shift gate switch assembly (it only came like that). I will not spend $100+ just for the top piece of safety lock switch, but without fixing it, the rear door power window does not function for rear passenger.
I found a little springs from a die cast model's suspension, and insert it into the hole where the safety lock switch used to be. The metal spring will act as a metal bridge connecting two metal piece to enable the rear power window operation. To cover the hole, I found one expired credit card, the color of the magnetic strip on back of the card match the color of the wood on shift gate. I cut a piece a little big larger than the hole and force it to cover the hole. This plastic piece will blend in with the wood and hold metal springs in the position to have contact points.
Now the rear window can be rolled up and down from the switch on the rear door panel, but no child safety lock function.
If I don't tell anyone, no one willl know it used to be a sfety lock switch at that location.
Total cost for this project $0.
Total hour spend: 1/2 hour.
Result: 90% satisfy

Sounds like you are a regular MacGyver.
You'd think a salvage yard could get you hooked of for cheaper than the Stealership.
I think I'll take the assembly out tomorrow and see what I can' get accomplished. But obviously, I'd love to have a real retaining clip.
