Hi Guys
Anybody knows how to work out if the old Kompressor is on its way out. My C230K (which I have just acquired) is running at around 180,000 km's and I get a funny click click click sound only in second gear under throttle going up an incline with revs still relatively low at around 2500. Very strange .... seems ok the rest of the time. I also get the Kompressor whine all the time but I presume that this is normal.

I am not sure if this will help or not, but I had a 1998 SLK230 Kompressor. From the day I started it up and gave it gas the S/C sounded like it clicked on and off with a sound that I can't type. I went back to the dealer and they said it was normal. It almost sounded like something was draging...

Yeah, when you rev your engine from idle speed, that clicking noise you hear is the Kompressor filling up with air and simultaneously pushing air into the motor. Furthermore, the whining noise you hear while driving the car is perfectly normal; its the sound of your Kompressor! Enjoy that noise, because the C230/C280 engines are much quieter, and most people opted for the C230k because of that engine noise!!
