Question Rotors - help?

I am in despirate need of front and rear rotors for my 98 c230. I also need front brake pads. I plan on selling the car so I am looking to spend the least amount possible. Is there anyone that can help me out as to where I should go? Thanks in advance.

have a trustworhty repair shop measure the thickness of your rotors and pads.

For the rotors: the front should have min of 19.4mm, and rear should have min of 7.3mm.

The pads's thickness should have at least 14mm (50%) all around.

If they are above these figures, you are OK.

If you want to replace all of them, get OEM. there are many places on the net sell those, but you have to find a shop to replace them for you.

Yes I'd be looking to get OEM. Would you know what website to go to in order to get the lowest price? I'm driving metal to metal and I am stressing to replace them immediately.

From my experience, www.thebenzbin.com and the Fast Lane at www.mercedesshop.com are the cheapest. They carry OEM parts.

Rotors pressed on?

Ok i found a site so far, www.autopartsperformance.com They seem to have good prices. I'll check out those other 2 sites before I buy. As far as having the front/rear rotors put on, what should it cost me? I was quoted $75 for the front and he'd put the front pads on as well. But he said if the rotors are 'pressed on', then it will cost more. If anyone has any info that can help please do so. Thanks.

SLK boy is right. Try www.thebenzbin.com or www.mercedesshop.com. They usually have the best prices on the net. The OEM rotors (ATE, Balo) should cost anywhere from $35/rotor to $50/rotor depending on whether you have vented or non-vented front rotors (depends on your VIN). The vented rotors are the ones that are a little more expensive. $75 for install sounds about right for the fronts. It only takes 45 minutes tops. MB dealers will charge $200 for the install... I would recommend doing them yourself. It is quite an easy job to do.

The rotors are not "pressed" on. They are attached by an allen bolt (hex). Just make sure when you're purchasing the rotors to also purchase 4 brake pad sensors (only like $1 each). These sensors will signal when you need to replace the brakes/rotors again. Hope this helps.

Super3day,
Take a look here on Benzsport.com. http://www.benzsport.com/forums/show...&threadid=6223 Mbenz (Steve, the MB mod god) has written an article with step by step instructions and pictures. The pictures are not showing up right now for some weird reason. I'll tell Steve to update his links...
