Question Rear Hatshelf

Hello - I'm new to the forum. I need to replace my back speakers in my 95 C220 and I need help on removing the rear hatshelf. I already took off my back seat and the first aid kit compartment but the shelf is still not budging. Does anybody know how to take it off? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't even bother man, just leave it alone. If you have a Bose system, throw a sub in the trunk and call it good. If you are redoing the entire system in the car, get a good set of components up front and a good set of midrange drivers for the rear doors, disconnect the rear deck speakers, and throw a sub in the trunk.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the Bose system and I'm redoing the whole system that's why I ask. I've just replaced the HU with an Alpine 9856. I'm replacing all the speakers with MB Quart Reference System. I got 6 1/2's components for the front and back (RCE 216). I'm also installing 2 Alpine MRP-F450 4 channel amp and 2 12" Alpine Type R subs. I'm disabling the backdoor speakers and would just like yo use the rear deck. Thanks again.

Well the reason I say not to use the rear deck speakers is not only because they're a ***** to get out, but also because with sub(s) in the trunk, you won't get anything out of them as far as sound is concerned. The way that car is designed will not give you any worthy sound out of the rear decks with subs in the trunk. I can't even hear them in my car now that my JL's back there.

Thanks so much for the advice. Are the rear doors 4's or 3 1/2's? I think I'll follow your advice of exchanging the 6 1/2's for the rear deck to whatever size the rear doors are. Do you think I can fit 4's in there?

Not too sure on what the largest size you can fit in the doors is. Run over to club202.com, sign up and become a member, and run a search for speaker sizes in the Electronic Upgrades forum. You'll find more information than you could possibly need in there.
