C280 Horn Problem
Help!!! I need to maintain a healthy marriage.
My wife has been driving our 2000 C280 Sport around and the horn will all of a sudden go off. This does not appear to be a mechanical problem but if she beats on the horn pad long enough it will stop.
I have not been able to duplicate and prior to the current 2 times in one day occurence it has been a couple of months since it happened before. What gives??? I can't see where anything is "sticking" and if I can avoid the dealer I want to as they could not duplicate it either last spring.
Can any knowledgeable person help me out??
Thanks

Perhaps the contact is sticking or is loose and completing the circuit some how. If she can beat on the steering unit and it goes away, I would say that your problem lies there most of likely.
I had the same sort of problem on my '80 450 SEL and it turned out to be a loose contact.

Same issue on my C280.... It actually sounded like something banging around on the inside.. I actually thought my little nephew dropped a dime in there or something, and when i turned the wheel if just once in awile made contact... but now it stopped. Bad part is, it did it so often my horn sounds weird, its high pitched and weak!
LOL... =/
