May purchase 1995 C280

The asking price is $7900. 102,000 miles, black on tan leather and is cosmetically perfect. Seems to be loaded with all options available that year, when I test drive it is there anything I should look out for, and anything I should ask about the vehicle?

Yea,

Tell the owner that the car is wayyy overpriced. I bet you can find one around 5-6 K with the same conditions. Beware of head gasket leak in the front part of the gasket, that is the common problem for C280 w/ inline 6.

Ask the owner if he/she ever replaced the engine wiring harness. That thing is prone to break too.

102.000 miles - 163.200 km why such small run? (for 1995)

Its pretty normal for Benz in the States to have low miles (even more normal in Asia).

The reasons could be:

1. its a weekend car
2. the owner used public transportation mainly (don't know why, but that happens)
3. the car is in the shop most of the time

Thats all I can think of for now. Chime in if anyone has other reasons.

Thanks for the info so far. I didn't think $7900 was too high as KBB and Edmunds (I know not the greatest sources but the only ones I have for now) have it at $7500 and $8400 respectively.

Bought my C280, 95 in 2001 for $11K at 49Kmiles. Now it has 103Kmiles.

I replaced water pump at 99Kmiles.

AC does not work properly (dont really need AC in San Francisco)

SRS light is on

Engine check light is on but does not affect mpg (before and after engine check light on at 24mpg).

Will replace combination relay soon (wiper comes on automatically once in while, signal light does not work once in a while)

Radio/CD works 98%, there is a short somewhere (still looking for it, but it works for the last 5 months...)

Car shakes a little bit at 60 mph, but smooth at greater than 65 mph

Ii is my commute car (50 miles) round trip and I could live with these minor things...
