'96 C220 Cargo Net?
Does anybody know if the '96 C-class has a cargo net? Mine doesn't NOW, but I could have sworn I had one when I bought the car 2 years ago..

From the factory...
This is an option that can only be (properly/factory) equipped if the option was selected when the car was first ordered.
If you look in your owners manual, you will see where it shows the mounted hooks in the trunk for the cargo net.
So yes, it was available in 1994.
The car may have had an aftermarket net with it when you bought it? I'm not sure...
In any event, good luck!

Super3day,
If it's not too much an inconvience to you, can you take a picture off all the points in which the net attaches to the trunk.
Can you tell if the points mount INTO the metal part of the trunk or just the molding? I see where the top right hook screws into the moulding and into the metal, but I don't see that on any of the other sides.
Feel free to email me offline at mattncolorado@yahoo.com if you can be of some assistance here. I am certain I had a cargo net before and then about 2 years ago, the rear trunk flooded in a flooded parking area, I had the inside of the trunk gutted and replaced and just recently I remembered I USE to have a cargo net. But I don't seem to have any of the mountin hardware like I used to.

I will try my best to take the hook location of the net with my digital camera. Because of the trunk is so dark (my camera does not equip with flash light), it is hard to get a clear pics right now (now is 10:00PM), I will try to do it in the daytime. So maybe tomorrow I will take the pictures for you.

Super3day,
No problem at all. I'm the one asking for the favor. You can take until the cows come home if you like. If it's going to turn out to be toooo much of a hassle don't sweat it, man. I just need to see if what I need is to replace the net mounting hardware, which I do think is the case.

It seems the mounting horns just screw right into the divot for holding the plastic molding onto the trunk metal. Can you verify this for me? I have plastic divots in the same spots with an end cap on them to seal the hole. Seems if I take off the cap and screw the mountin horn into it, that it's all it takes..

Looks like you've got all the little details covered with your w202, what I mean by that is it seems like you've got all the little accessories every other C-Class owner wants! Guess we just weren't as fortunate as you to buy our cars brand new from the dealer (at least I'm didn't) and get all the options and accessories available. Nice ride!

One advantage buying the car new from the dealership is you get to select the car you want (exterior colors, interior colors, options...), but it will cost you. I remember when I bought the car back in 97, and all I wanted is full leather interior, but the dearlership does not have the color I wanted (RED). They only have 2 C230s with full leather interior (black and smoke silver). I don't like the black one because it feels hot in summer especially in southern california. The smoke silver C230 was sitting in the show room with all the goodies installed (17" AMG monoblock, rear sunshade package, cargo net, sunroof, power front driver and passenger seats, full leather interior, OEM CD changer.....), and it cost more than 38,500 on the MSRP. I guess this dealership installed every possible option on this car just to let customer knows how they can do to their cars. I did cut fee grands down from MSRP, and dealer throw in a set of the C36 OEM floormats (black with logo on them) as bonus! Don't know why? but it fits and looks good!
