If you got it serviced at the Dealer, take it baack and have them reset it for you

or

Look through your Owner's Manual for the FSS reset explanantion.

Are you sure you have a 99 220 U.S. car? Maybe 230 Kompressor or just a 230? Even if you have a 220, their is a sequence of buttons you press to reset it. You can call the 800 Mercedes help line if you don't have a manual and they should tell you how to do it. You might want to watch for a used manual on Ebay.

1 Insert the ignition key and turn it to
position 2. Immediately press button 0 on
the instrument panel twice within one
second.
2 Turn the ignition key back to position 1.
3 Press and hold button 0, then turn the key
to position 2 (keeping the button
pressed). The display will show the
current remaining distance or time, and
after 10 seconds an acoustic signal will
sound. The new starting distance or time
will appear for about 10 seconds on the
display.
4 Release button 0.
