Best tires for a wet climate?

My wife's 2000 C280 is in need of new tires and I'd like to get some recommendations. Living in the beautiful NorthWet...er, Northwest...I'm looking for tires with the best possible traction in wet conditions.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

If you're looking for summer tires I have to recommend the Goodyear Eagle F-1's, not the cheapest but better priced than Michelin PS2's and they're incredible in the rain.

Not sure they come in sizes you need, but as life long Seattle natives, my wife and I liked the Goodyear Aquatread 3's. Unfortunately this tire has been discontinued and replaced by the Assurance Triple Tread. I'm going to have a set put on the wife's car this afternoon. The Aquas lasted 60K+ miles but really gave up traction in the last 10k miles, I only kept them on through the summer so I could wait until the wet weather for new tires. With the pineapple express we're having now , the timing for new tires is perfect.

Bridgestone RE960AS Pole Position. An evolution/major upgrade of the RE950. I have a lot of wet weather experience with the RE950s and they really pump out the water, plus they handle excellent. I just bought a set of the 960s for my '00 C280 Sport.

Thanks for the info and I'll be interested in hearing how the new tires handle, especially after the past 24 hours in our area :-) Right now I debating trading her car in for a rubber dingy...or an arc...

Thanks for the info...that was one tire I hadn't thought about. Of course after seeing 6"+ of rainfall in our area, I'd be interested in any kind of tire that can shovel water :-)

An excellent all season tire is the Nokian All Weather Plus.
