Help: C230 Windshield wiper malfunction

For a couple of weeks, my windshild wiper (there's only one) would get temporarily stuck on the windshield when I tried to use them. If it was raining hard, creating a lot of moisture, they would become lubricated and work fine. However, if there was only a little moisture, they would get stuck around the middle of the windshield, and eventually make it back and forth.

However, now they don't work at all. They won't move. I don't even hear a motor trying to get them to move.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Remove the plastic cover at the base of the wiper armature.Inside it you will see 2 steel rods - turn wiper on and stop at center of the windshield position -hit them with some white lithium grease and you'll be good to go.I had the same thing happen to me 2 months ago.

Do it now, don't wait. Just hope you haven't already messed the gears or motor up. If it is already dead, at least check to see if a fuse blew before the motor croaked.

The instructions say to turn the wiper on so it points straight up. But mine won't turn on at all. Does this mean my motor is dead? How can I get it straight up?

Also, I hear a buzz coming from the area around my fuse box under the hood when I start the car....it goes away after about 5-10 sec. I thought it was the engine, but I wonder if it is the windshield wiper motor....Do you think my motor is dead? What should I do?

Turn the wiper on and see if you can "assist" it up to the top position, then try the remedy suggested - it maybe "stuck" .

I tried taking off the plastic cover over the arm and couldn't get it to come off. Is there a secret to getting that off?

Slow steady pressure pulling downward. You don't want to break it but it takes force. There are "hooks" at the top of the piece which have to be overcome. I thought I was going to break something the first time I did it.
