best oil for a 2000 c230

2000 C230K and 2002 ML320
I just got my 2000 C230 and there was a letter from Mercedes in the paperwork stating that they recommend using Mobil 1 Synthetic oil... I can't remember the weight... but I do recall seeing 0-40 in the records book. Also I saw that using that you can go 10,000 miles between oil changes... a little scary to me, but we'll see.
