Have 1996 C 280 with 53K miles original.
Found that temp gauge goes up to 100 within 5 minutes of driving.
Took to get new oil and coolant that Jiffy Lube does.
No change.
Help please.
(only problem was 1 year ago got a gasket replaced by MB)
Have not driven this car much as it is my daughter's who is away in college so unsure how long this problem has been going on.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Is your fan working?
Do you have the correct thermostat?
Is your thermostat bad?
Is there air in the cooling system?
I thought MB's needed MB Coolant... I have never taken my cars to Jiffy Lube... I took my Honda there a few years ago... and the guy asked me how much oil it took... backed up and left and NEVER went back... they don't care about your car.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago.
I bought the 87 degrees thermostat from autohausaz.com for 13 bucks and change it myself. It was like a 10 min DIY job.
Before buying the thermostat though, does your temp go up to 100 and stay there? or is it keep climbing up? did you have your heater on?
Best of luck,
DDTham
