you don't need to use any radio kit for installing a single din into your w202. just get the correct harness, and use the bracket that comes with your new cd player

I'm having trouble finding the harness for it, could someone point me in the right direction? I herd that some VW ones would work too but not sure which one.

Circuit city. pay what it cost. save the headache.

They sell smart clips. You just plug opne into the radio, and one into your car, then plug them together. insted of cutting all the wires and twisting and all that. Also if you have the premium stereo, if they made one? you might have to re-wire all the speakers to get the to make sound. I not 100% on the rewire part though

I like to do the install myself just because i find it interesting so I will call them and ask them about the smart clips, but does anyone know where to get the actual harness?

DIN = Deutsche Industrie Norm (German Industrial Standard)
basically just means it's a standardized size for radios and components.

Single DIN is the standard radio we all know, double DIN is twice the height, same width.

I have not seen a commercially produced double DIN frame for the w202. If you find one, please post a link. If you search these forums, you will find tutorials on how people did the conversion and built there own double DIN surrounds.

Don't pay Circuit City to do it. It's easy. Get a VW/Audi harness and wire it up. Shouldn't take you more than an hour. The only tricky thing is that the standard color for power and switched 12V are backwards in MB's so you will need to swtich them around (i.e. yellow to red and red to yellow) for it to come on with the car. Other than that, it's cake. Or you can just buy her a nice Blaupunkt and unplug the stock HU and simply plug the new Blaupunkt in...which is what I did in my w202.
